Rising to 11,401 feet, Volcan (Spanish for volcano) Baru dominates the landscape of this area. The ash and lava from the volcano's last eruption (over a millennia ago) have greatly nurtured the bounty of this ecosystem. On a clear day, one can see both the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans from the summit of the Volcan Baru.
