The two species of commercial coffee trees most widely grown are coffea
arabica and coffea canephora (referred to as robusta). The robusta species is
grown at lower altitudes and produces a lower quality bean that is the main
component in commercial canned coffees. Generally, robustas have an earthy
flavor. The cleaner flavor of the arabica bean is at the center of the
specialty coffee movement. These higher quality beans are prized by both
coffee experts and coffee lovers alike. La Torcaza Estate is only
high-quality arabica beans.
